Doreen Mwenitete continued with her fluent performance when she emerged winner in the FDH Bank Wednesday Ball Pool at Blantyre Sports Club.

In the men’s category, Dr. Adriel Guarino came tops in a tight race that saw the top three finishing on 19 points.

Mwenitete, who had a magnificent score of 22 points, got a state-of-the-art plasma TV screen and a trophy so, did Guarino, who unfortunately was not present during the prize presentation as he had to attend to other pressing matters at work.

In her victory speech, Mwenitete said she was relaxed when she stepped on the greens.

“I was relaxed and consistent and I would like to thank my playing partners,” she said.

The 18-handcapped Guarino said he was inspired by his playing partners.

“They kept driving me on and I was also very consistent,” he said.

Alex Petterfer was Guarino’s runner-up after being counted out. Petterfer also counted out Lance Pinto.

The runner-up in the ladies category was Margret Mkwanda who finished two points short of Mwenitete. She got a bar fridge and a trophy as her prizes.

FDH chief operating officer Masauko Katsala pledged continued sponsorship of the ball pool.

“We would like to register our appreciation to our customers by continuing to sponsor the ball pool. It is a way of interacting with our customers,” said Katsala.

Blantyre Sports Club golf vice-captain Hudson Kantwanje said the competition attracted 50 golfers.
