Mwezi Wawala video production in progress

Video for Mwezi Wawala song which is a song done by 20 Malawian artists for a charity cause organised by Airtel, is in its early stages.

Brands and communications manager for Airtel Isabel Kachinjika told The Nation that the video for the song is in its preliminary stages and is die is two weeks’ time.

“The song is doing well in downloads and soon we are going to announce how much the song has made and which charity we are going to donate the money to,” said Kachinjika.

Mwezi Wawala

is the first song to be performed by a number of artists for a charity cause with sponsorship from a private company.

The song is enjoying massive airplay on local radio stations and entertainment joints.

Mwezi Wawala

is a musical anthem comprising over 20 of the country’s top musicians.

The song, produced by renowned Blantyre-based producer Tapps Bandawe, also features urban artists Tay Grin, BlakJak, Blasto and Tigris, Lucius Banda, Skeffa Chimoto, Black Missionaries Band’s lead vocalist Anjiru Fumulani and gospel musician Faith Mussa, among others.

Speaking to journalists during the launch, Kachinjika said Mwezi Wawala is a celebration of the Airtel brand and embraces the values of the brand.

“As a brand, Airtel’s vision is to enrich lives by helping our customers achieve their dreams. Through our network we also want to enable our customers to be themselves, and express themselves freely in order to explore their full potential regardless of their race, beliefs or geographical boundaries,” stated Kachinjika.

“Through this song we believe Malawians will feel the heartbeat of the Airtel brand and come to understand what we are all about,” said Kachinjika adding; “This is also something that has never been done before in Malawi; bringing together the best of the best to compose a song that will touch many lives”.

Apart from creating unparalleled entertainment, according to Kachinjika, the song will also touch the lives of less fortunate people in the country and the proceeds from this song would be channeled to different causes so that those who don’t have a reason to smile can now celebrate because Mwezi Wawala.
