My image has been tainted and ruined—Katimba

Musician Thocco Katimba has moved to dispel rumours that he has a child with 18-year-old Miracle Chinga, saying this has ruined his image.

Speaking during his performance in Mzuzu on Sunday, Katimba said he does not have a child with Miracle.

He also denied that he plans to marry her. Instead, he disclosed that he was marrying Mzuzu University (Mzuni) nursing student Ireen Mmora whom he paraded on stage during his performance.

Together, they performed Ndalipeza Banja.

Said Katimba: “For two years, the rumour had it that I impregnated Miracle. Lately, the rumour went on that Miracle has my child and I have taken responsibility to marry her. In as far as I know, Miracle has never been pregnant and she does not have a child.

“The truth is that I took Grace as my sister and Miracle is more or less my daughter. She is just a minor who needs support from us.”

He said he decided to parade Mmora on stage for the sake of dispelling the rumour which has ruined his image.

“Three and a half years after the death of my wife, I have found love in Mmora. I am hoping and praying that in a year or two, I should marry her. But I needed to clear those rumours,” said Katimba.

He beseeched people to desist from peddling lies, but show love to artists while they are still alive rather than wait until death takes them away.

Miracle’s other uncle, Joseph Chinga, said, as a family, they were happy that Katimba came out in the open to dispel the rumours.

He said the family had been hearing about the rumours which climaxed during Grace’s funeral, adding this has affected the family negatively.

“We are happy that Katimba has come out in public to talk about this. As a family, the rumour has affected us so much because at no point has Miracle left school to raise a child.

“She started Form One up to Four without any pregnancy. So, where did she deliver? Was it in a dream? We wonder where these stories are coming from” said Chinga. n
