MyFundAction cheers and feeds thousands in the final days of Ramadhan

MyFundAction, a nonprofit Muslim organization whose headquarters is in Malaysia, through its Malawi’s representatives and volunteers, organized special Iftar programs in Malawi in the final days of the holy month of Ramadan as part of its wide range of charitable programs which it facilitates and implements across the middle East and Africa.  In Africa, MyFundAction is operating in Egypt, Chad, Malawi, Cote d’lvoire, Benin, Mali and Cameron under the slogan, “We share together”.

In their efforts to implement the iftar programs, MyFundAction Representatives in Malawi led by Sheikh Qullab Jim, Sheikh Umar Muhammad and Sheikh Yussuf Tenson together with other designated volunteers, mobilized the residents of less privileged Muslim communities who enthusiastically gathered in large numbers to grace the occasions. The organization prepared iftar meals worth millions and distributed to everyone present during the time of breaking the fast.

With the aim of reaching as many much deserving Muslims as possible, the team implemented the programs in three various locations which are Chilinde 2 main mosque, an Orphanage centre and a madrasah in Chinsapo 2 in Lilongwe respectively and Chiunda Village in Dedza district, in three consecutive days under the theme: “Special Iftar for Ummah (SIFU), We share together”.

On the first day of the iftar program, which was on the 10th of May this year 2021. The program was implemented in Lilongwe at Chilinde 2 where close to 600 people gathered

Speaking to a large crowd during the occasion at Chilinde 2 main mosque, the chairman of the mosque, Sheikh Qasim Wasili Mangochi,  began with thanking MyFundAction Africa for remembering the Muslim brothers and sisters in Malawi especially his area in their various projects. ”It is not taken lightly that this organization, MyFundAction, is here today, in my area here in Malawi, to see us and provide Iftar meals to us. We thank Allah for this gesture and we thank the leadership of MyFundAction for coming to us. This is a welcome program and it is our prayer that this does not stop here, but rather the beginning of many programs to come that will benefit us and the ccommunity at large” He said. He stressed the importance of unity and sharing among Muslims and referred to the occasion as a clear example of unmarginalised love and unity across the globe. ” Let me say this and I will be honest about it, these people, MyFundAction Africa who also work in the middle east and beyond, they don’t know me, they don’t know you, they don’t know us, they simply know that we exist, that somewhere in Malawi, there are Muslim brethren in need and chose to do something about it. This is a clear sign of unmarginalised love and care. We all should learn something from this occasion and learn to love one another and share the little they have”, He said.

On the other hand, the guest of honor at the function, Sheikh Qassim Abdullah, district Chairman, Ulama council of Malawi, in his address called upon the wealthy and those capable to follow through with the teachings of Islam and give out what is required of them to the poor and needy. “I would like to use this opportunity to remind those stingy rich people to open their arms and give out the right of the poor and needy in their wealth. In those riches you are blessed with, in that wealth you have, there is a portion that belongs to the poor and needy as per the Qur’an and Sunnah, give it to them while you still can” He said. He also called for unity of purpose and serving mankind irrespective of blood relations and race. “All Muslims are one big family, we should all help one another regardless of family relations, race or tribe. We should all unite and serve humanity with passion and dedication”, He said.

In reaction to the occasion, Mr. M’bwana, on behalf of all the beneficiaries of the program in the area, thanked MyFundAction for the iftar and conceded that the majority of Muslims in the community is not doing well financially and that help is needed all the time. He went on to report on the situation of the elderly, the disabled and orphans in the area. “On behalf of everyone present here today and my own behalf, I thank MyFundAction initiative which has seen them offer iftar to us all today. There are approximately 650 people here and there is enough iftar for everyone. We are grateful for this initiative and we ask Allah to bless each and everyone who has a hand in this event”, he said. He also called upon the representatives of MyFundAction in Malawi to visit the community just to see and witness firsthand how most Muslim families and living.

 Adam Tiyes, a Nasheed artist, was among the volunteers  and entertained the gathering.

In his closing remarks, Sheikh Yusuf  Tenson thanked the Muslims of the community and their leadership for their total cooperation and the love they showed throughout the program.

He further assured them of other charity projects pending ahead.

The function ended soon after the meals at about 18:30p local time with a dua by Sheikh Mmadi Yahya.

The following day, On the 11th, MyFundAction representatives in Malawi took the iftar program to an orphange centre and madrasah in Chinsapo 2 in Lilongwe with more than 300 kids and additional  others in attendance, the iftar program was graced by close to 600 people.

In her opening remarks at the orphanage, Sister Aisha, an official at the centre, thanked MyFundAction for visiting the orphanage and said that it came at the right time. ” We are very happy that you are here today, the kids are overwhelmed with joy seeing you here, and that makes us happy too. This makes us feel counted and valued. Your coming alone means alot to us let alone the special food you have brought to us. The kids are fasting too in this month of Ramadhan and this iftar has come at the right time”. She said.

The smiles of the faces of the kids were simply breathtaking and powerful. Such innocent souls! May Allah Taa’la give them bright futures yaa Rabb.

Amina, one of the children at the centre, expressed her joy and in her heart touching tune, stressed that help is needed for them to become somebody someday In shaa Allah.

Speaking on behalf of MyFundAction  at the centre, Sheikh Umar Muhammad cheered the kids and asked the officials to continue caring and striving for the kids until they make it in life and lead independent and successful lives In shaa Allah.

From there, the representatives took the iftar program to Dedza district, traditional authority Tambala in Chiunda village where close to 1600 people were present. Here, unlike the first two programs where cooked meals and drinks were served, the MyFundAction Volunteers and representatives distributed assorted uncooked food items to everyone to cook for themselves and use them as Iftar.

Speaking on behalf of Group Village Headman Chiunda, Mr Alafuledi Wiladi thanked the administration of MyFundAction for coming to his village with the iftar program. He said that Muslims in the village are in extreme poverty to the extent that it affects their religious life. He therefore called upon well wishers to continue helping the Muslims and everyone in need in his village and elsewhere on various fronts.

Looking at the crowd, it was evident that the food items arrived at the right time and to those who desperately need them.

In his address to the huge crowd before the distribution of the food items, Sheikh Qullab advised the people in the community to stand vigilant in building the futures of their children by sending them to school and guiding them in choices they make. He further warned them against not practicing Islam in the name of poverty but rather stand firm and ask Allah to see them through the situations they are passing through.

One of the beneficiaries, Mr Hassan, an elder, thanked MyFundAction for the iftar items and asked that this should only be the beginning. He also asked other well-wishers to follow suit and extend a helping hand to those in need.

The program ended at 17:00pm local time leaving behind happy faces with renewed energy. May Allah Subhaanahu Wa Taa’ala accept these sadaqas and reward everyone who donated towards these programs accordingly and award them Jannat In shaa Allah.
