Member of Parliament (MP) for Mzuzu City Leonard Njikho has donated uniforms to Mzuzu University (Mzuni) FC as one way of saluting the team for its recent good performances in the TNM Super League.

Mzuni won back-to-back games to raise hopes of surviving relegation and having three teams from the Northern Region in the Super League.

The parliamentarian said the donation symbolises happiness following the team’s good run.

“I have decided to donate the uniform as one way of congratulating Mzuni for the recent good performance in the Super League.

“The team is in my constituency and their stay in the Super League is not only the university’s pride, but also for the Northern Region as a whole,” said Njikho.

According to Njikho, the uniform is worth K200 000 (about $318).

In his remark, Mzuni FC chairperson Albert Mtungambera Harawa thanked the MP for recognizing the team’s recent good performance.

He said the donation would inspire the players to work hard in their remaining games.

“We thank the MP for the recognition. This will inspire the players to work hard. We did not have enough training kits so the donated uniforms will end such challenges,” he said.n
