Flames captain Limbikani Mzava and forward Chiukepo Msowoya’s South Africa Premier Soccer League side Golden Arrows on Saturday advanced to the semifinals of the Nedbank Cup .

Arrows eliminated Platinum Stars of Mzava and Msowoya’s compatriots Robert Ng’ambi and Gerald Phiri Jnr at Princess Magogo Stadium.

Mzava: It was a tough match

A priceless first half goal by Musa Bilankulu earned Arrows a 1-0 victory that ensured the Malawian stars have mixed fortunes in the foreign land.

“It was a tough match that could go either way. However, I am happy that we have managed to make it into the last-four stage,” Mzava said.

However, while Mzava enjoyed game time in the entire 90 minutes, Msowoya witnessed his team’s glory on the sidelines as he was an unused substitute.

On the other hand, Ng’ambi and Phiri featured for Stars during the entire match where their effots were not good enough to help their team, which only has the CAF Confederations Cup group stages and the Absa Premiership top-eight place to fight for.

According to www.kickoff.com, Ng’ambi had his best chance denied by Arrows goalkeeper Nkosingiphile Gumede in the 15th minute.

“Gumede was called into action just after the quarter-hour mark as he pulled off an excellent double save to deny Robert Ng’ambi and Bongi Ntuli from inside the box,” the website stated.
