Mzokoto CCAP Church in Rumphi last Sunday held a service of worship that included a colourful reception for new church minister Reverend Thaddeus  Kanyinji.

Kanyinji, who was serving at Misuku CCAP in Chitipa, has replaced Reverend Patson Mgala who left for further studies in theology.

Christians from different denominations and chiefs converged at the church for the prayers.

In his sermon, Kanyinji preached on spiritual renewal, saying people need to evaluate their lives and make positive changes.

In an address to the church after the prayers, he said he was happy to have been given a hearty welcome by the congregation.

“This shows oneness in spiritual life. That chiefs too are with us is commendable. It shows they are God-fearing ,” said Kanyinji.

Group Village Head Chimalabanthu Nyirenda said the church contributes a lot to the work of traditional leaders.

“When people are God-fearing, there are few cases that traditional leaders resolve,” said Nyirenda.

Session clerk Manase Ngwira said the reverend needs support from the congregation to discharge his duties effectively.
