Mzuni apologises for losses

Mzuni FC executive committee held a meeting with their supporters at Mzuzu University yesterday to apologise for the team’s poor form.

The team started well at the onset of the season having won two of their first games, but a string of six losses, including last Sunday’s 1-2 home defeat by Azam Tigers has attracted the wrath of their loyal supporters, who were seeking the firing of coach Alex Ngwira.

So far, the outfit, which is expected to host Blue Eagles on Saturday, has slid four places down to position 14 on the log-table with eight points, two points ahead of log-table anchors Fisd Wizards, who have three games in hand.

“Our supporters always sing, dance and cheer the team at our games, but it has been a painful experience for them to always return home with defeats.

“This is why it was necessary to meet our supporters and apologise for our recent losses,” said Mzuni FC chairperson Albert Harawa.

Mzuni Supporters Committee chairperson Daniel Mwakasoko confirmed yesterday that the meeting took place and that the technical panel has promised to get the team back on track.

After the team’s loss to Tigers last weekend, Mzuni supporters planned to force their players and some officials not to board their bus on return to Mzuzu University, but the idea was reversed following the intervention of the team’s executive members.
