Mzuni FC elect new executive committee

Mzuzu University (Mzuni) FC has a new executive committee which was elected on Friday.

Felix Bello is the new chairperson after he defeated outgoing Albert Harawa.

Bello amassed 52 votes out of 82 to defeat Harawa.

The newly-elected chairperson said he would ensure that the team stays in the Super League.

“I thank you all for the trust you have put in me. I promise to do the needful. Let me assure players that your welfare will be improved because you are our assets,” he said.

Outgoing chairperson, Harawa, accepted defeat and urged the new committee to work hard so that it achieves the target of finishing in top five in the 2016 season.

The elections, which were held at the university’s main lecture hall, saw Wales Singini going unopposed as the team’s vice-chairperson.

Khumbo Kumwenda was elected general secretary with 72 votes while his opponent Maloto Chavula got 10 votes.

Chifundo Chiwaya was voted vice-general secretary after defeating two other aspirants Alisto Kondowe and James Kwilimbe.

He collected 67 votes.

The club treasurer Thom Kazangaza was elected unopposed while Michael Manda got 57 votes against Edson Makiyi’s 25 to win the position of vice-treasurer.

William Chibambo, Daniel Mwakasoko, Alfred Njikho, Agnes Mzumara and Baxter Chirambo were elected the team’s committee members.

The committee will serve a two-year term of office.
