McNebat Kadzuwa is back at Mzuzu University (Mzuni) FC as assistant coach replacing Milias Pofera-Jengwe who resigned last week.

Jegwe tendered his resignation after his employer, Ministry of Health, refused to transfer him to Mzuzu from Lilongwe.

Kadzuwa served as assistant to the team’s head coach Alex Ngwira before Pofera-Jegwe’s hiring.

Speaking at the unveiling ceremony held at the club’s premises, Mzuni chairperson Albert Mtungambera Harawa said they opted for Kadzuwa who already has experience with the team’s system of play.

“It was difficult to seek for other faces outside because the league is in progress. The right option, therefore, was Kadzuwa. After all, he is already our son only that he was committed with other things,” he said.

Mzuni are on position five with nine points from six games.

In his remarks, Kadzuwa, a CAF-B licence holder, promised a good working relationship with the head coach.

“I must thank Mzuni FC management for having the faith in me,” he said.

Mzuni head coach Ngwira said he has no problem working with Kadzuwa again.

“He is good just like the other assistant coach. I am comfortable working with him again,” he said.

According to Mzuni general secretary Khumbo Kumwenda, Kadzuwa has signed a short-term contract which is set to expire at the end of the season.

“It will depend on management to renew Kadzuwa’s contract at the end of this season,” he explained. n
