Mzuzu Airport rising from floods

MZUZU-AIRPORT

Receding rains in the Northern Region have seen Mzuzu Airport runway resurfacing having seen its northern side flooded and the whole airport unusable. The torrential rains, which destroyed houses, killed six people in Masasa Township and displaced about 8 000 in the city, left the airstrip with no aeroplane landing or taking off. Officials at the airport said almost 300 metres of the runway had been submerged, rendering it risky for aeroplanes to land or take off.
