Mzuzu fans shun Disciples concert
A promising show at Sunbird Mzuzu’s Boma Park became a nightmare for the newly formed Disciples Band as fans trekked to a football tussle between Moyale Football Club and Kamuzu Barracks.
The group— comprising Ras Amadya Nzimbe hitmaker Sally Nyundo, Nyemba Nyemba’s  Symon and Kendal, Tidzayika Inuyo’s Gracian Nyambo and Kufa Saferana’s Haxi Momba—ended in Mzuzu on a tour which took them to Kasungu Inn on Friday and Mzimba on Saturday.
According to Kendal of the Nyemba Nyemba duo, the tour started on a good note as they had good patronage in Kasungu and Mzimba. However, their hopes were shattered in Mzuzu, thanks to the gamesome soldiers’ tussle at Mzuzu Stadium.
“We are not impressed but what we prepared for our fans has been achieved. Concerts and games are two activities that affect each other. The people pay K100 or K200 at the stadium, while our damages are on the higher side,” said Kendal.
Gig-goer Michael Samuel expressed satisfaction with the performances, describing the band as mature even in the face of the disappointment.
“These are well-known artists. Performing before such a small crowd is commendable. Others would have cancelled the show, but they gave their best and entertained us,” said the fan.
