Mzuzu Fashion Week registration underway

After a successful launch last year, Mzuzu Fashion Week returns this year.

Meanwhile, registration for designers wishing to be part in this year’s event is underway, according to organisers.

“Designer registration is now open. Please share with friends and family. Official media launch will be in towards the end of June when we have a short list of designers and all other details are confirmed,” said the event’s organiser, Wezi Mzumara of Kwanza PR.

Among others, the designers need to specify their brand specialty, thus menswear, women’s wear, accessories and furniture.

The designs should be in categories such as bridal, evening wear, casual wear, office wear, urban/trendy, beachwear, plus size, regardless of whether the designer is established or up and coming.

According to an online registration form from the organisers, local registration fee is K10 000 (about $14) while international designers is $300 (about K220 000).

“Payment is required to confirm your registration. This excludes transport and accommodation to Mzuzu. You can pay through bank transfer or Airtel Money.

“International designer payment also excludes flights to Malawi. One can pay through bank transfer, Airtel Money in countries like Zambia, DRC, Niger, SA,” reads the form.

With an overarching objective of unearthing talent that in the northern region and subsequently encouraging young designers and models to reach their full potential, be it in business, professional and or personal paths, the Mzuzu Fashion Week was established in October 2015, as Malawi’s leading fashion hub that will grow to be recognised internationally. n
