Mzuzu to host 2014 national volley League

Volleyball players from across the country are expected to converge on Katoto Secondary School from November 14 to 16 to fight for honours in the K2 million Raiply National Invitational Tournament.

According to chairperson of Northern Region Volleyball League (NRVL), Kamfumu Nkhoma, the players, drawn from all regional committees, will form 10 teams.

He said they will seed the top three teams from each region.

“We will have volleyball teams coming from as far as Lilongwe, Zomba and Blantyre. We have invited the Minister of Sports to grace the event,” said Nkhoma.

He said the games will be played in group format from two pools as follows: Pool A: Moyale, Cobbe Barracks, Kamuzu Barracks, Poly Troopers and Katoto Trickers; Pool B: Lilongwe Spikers, Blue Eagles, Mzuzu Police, Zomba Smashers and Mzuzu University.

On Friday, Moyale will play Cobbe Barracks while Kamuzu Barracks will play Poly Troopers. In Pool B, Lilongwe Spikers will play Blue Eagles while Mzuzu Police will face Zomba Smashers.
