As one way of assisting community-based organisations (CBOs) in the country to meet their targets, National Aids Commission (NAC) has donated a motorcycle to Bulamo CBO of Salima.

Speaking on behalf of NAC during the presentation ceremony, Salima District Council human resource and management officer, Lameck Machisa, said they decided to give the CBO the motorcycle after noting that it was facing challenges to visit hard-to-reach areas.

“When the CBO told us they face mobility challenges in their day-to-day activities, we promised them a motorcycle and we have come to fulfill the promise,” said Machisa

In her remarks, Bulamo CBO director Harriet Phiri hailed NAC for the motorcycle, saying it will help them reach their clients easily.

“Some of the areas we go to are very far from our operating premises and it had been difficult for us to reach such areas,” she said.

Formed in 2009, Bulamo CBO is one of the leading CBOs in Salima District with a population of about 5 000 clients in Senior Chief Kalonga’s area, providing VCT services as well as supporting vulnerable children and women, among other activities.
