Nakamura wants to make history
Japanese player Genki Nakamura says he would like to be the first player from the East Asia Island to play professional football in the Malawi.
Addressing the media in Lilongwe, Nakamura said he got interested in Malawi through a friend who works for Japanese International Corporation Agency (Jica).
“I didn’t know much about Malawi. I only got to know about this country through a friend at Jica.
“I have seen the way people have welcomed me. I want to play here in Malawi and make history,” Nakamura said.
The player has also disclosed that apart from Be Forward Wanderers, he is ready to play for any team that interested in his service.
There was drama in Lilongwe on Thursday evening when Silver Strikers and Be Forward Wanderers officials clashed over Japanese player.
Wanderers accused Silver of high-jacking the player who ended up at the Bankers treasurer Fred Kalonga’s house in Area 18.
The player was later picked up by Wanderers officials led by vice-general secretary Chris Kananji.
Silver spokesperson Chimwemwe Nkhwimba attributed the mix up to communication breakdown.
Nakamura plays as a striker, attacking midfielder and right winger.
His last club is Mohammedan Sporting of India but he has played for Bilisht and FK Tomori Berat of Albania, Sport Boys and Hijos de Acosvinchos in Peru, Cerezo Osaka (Japan), Saigon Port (Vietnam), VfbHuls and, DJK Tus (Germany) and FK TomoriBerat of Albania.
