Renowned gospel musician Patience Namadingo on Saturday performed at Makawa Gym in Lilongwe where he raised over K70 000 for Queen Elizabeth Central Hospital (QECH) children’s cancer ward.

Namadingo thrilled gym members with his superb vocal and guitar skills to the point that one member decided to give the artist his designer wrist watch.

“We enjoyed his performance,” said one of the organisers of the event, Albert Banda.

“However, the most important thing was that his performance was done for a good cause and we are delighted to be part of the initiative.”

Banda said the gym members did not hesitate to support Namadingo’s commendable initiative and he encouraged Malawians to get actively involved in exercises to avoid various ailments, including cancer.

Ishmael Makawa, owner of the Area 49-based gym which offers bodybuilding, aerobics, weightlifting, martial arts and cardio kick-boxing, said he felt proud to have hosted the Msati Mseke hit-maker.

Makawa said the gym, whose membership fee is K15 000 per month and K1 000 per day, has qualified trainers and certified nutritionists. n
