When musician Patience Namadingo dropped a single on Friday evening, most music fans and critics were taken unawares. Departing from his usual melodies, Namadingo added a few rap lines to the song Adowanna.

The single, which is a declaration of love for a woman, had Namadingo singing about his commitment and intention to marry the woman of his dreams.

In an interview, the musician said he decided to sing another love song because love is the greatest commandment of all.

“The Lord Jesus said love one another as you love yourself. There is no commandment in the world that is bigger than love, and I celebrate love,” he said.

Namadingo said love is the topic he would love the world to embrace more than any other.

Namandingo: I have never rapped before

On his decision to add a few rap lines to the new song, Namadingo said he wants to connect with his fans that love hip hop but have never gotten this genre from him.

He said: “I love rap. It’s a wording style that is genius. It’s one that enables an artist to recite lines beautifully put together not in a singing way but in a talking way that you can understand. It is art. And yes, I have never rapped before. This was my first time.”

Namadingo said he is glad that many, including hip hop fans and artists love his rap and say it was actually well delivered.

“Iyi ndi Afro-pop hip hop fusion, sensation same Namadingo, two different the singer the rapper make my impression. Will you marry me? Simple question together like a beautiful song, collaboration, for we moving together like a locomotive, I’m loving you….” raps Namadingo in part.

He said the song is just a single and not a part of an album or an extended playlist.

“My next single will be released after four months,” he said.
