Organisers of The Temptations show have announced that Patience Namadingo will be the local supporting act of the US group’s show scheduled for August 31.

The organisers, Africa Global Travel and Tours, say the award-winning artist has been chosen because of his growing popularity.

Namadingo: I will learn and also
showcase what I know

“We wanted someone who appeals to many people as well as almost the same audience. We are happy to be working with Namadingo. So far, preparations for the show are at an advanced stage. Everything is on track as planned. Tickets are now on sale,” said the tour operators’ chief executive officer Francis Muleso.

However, the show clashes with another big event on the night, the Lilongwe Jazz Festival, which returns for the second edition this year.

But Muleso believes that is not a cause for concern despite the two events targeting a similar audience.

“It gives people more entertainment and I look at the two events complementing each other. We are giving soul and jazz in the same city. More fun for music lovers,” he said.

Muleso said Malawians should expect fireworks on the day.

He said Africa Global Travel and Tours will make history in the country.

“It will be the best concert that they have ever witnessed locally. All they need to do is to get their tickets now,” said Muleso.

So far, the President Walmont Hotel has partnered with Africa Global Travel and Tours by providing accommodation for The Temptations during their sojourn in Malawi.

Meanwhile, Namadingo is excited for being chosen for the task.

“When the booking came through, I didn’t know who The Temptations were. I searched on YouTube and the moment the song started playing, I realised I knew their music from way back. So, now I know they are huge and loved in Malawi,” he said.

Namadingo said it is an honour to be considered as someone whose music appeals to a cross-section of audiences; both the young and the old.

“It does not give me any pressure but rather excitement as I will both learn and also showcase what I know,” he said.
