Mighty Wanderers captain Foster Namwela is back from South Africa after failing trials at Black Leopards, his manager has confirmed.

On Monday, scout Kondie Msungama said Leopards opted for a Zimbabwean defender who was also on trials alongside the Flames player.

“I am not surprised that he was not signed as Leopards coach [Sunday Chidzambwa] is also from Zimbabwe. Any way, we have no issue, we are moving on. All is not lost for Foster,” Msungama said in a telephone interview from Tanzania where he is on a business trip.

Wanderers general secretary David Kanyenda confirmed that Namwela rejoined the Nomads on Friday and featured in the 1-0 defeat of Escom United.

“As to how the trials were, that is beyond us. All we did was to release the player after receiving Leopards’ letter. We are just glad to have our captain back,” Kanyenda said about Namwela who also passed trials at Zimbabwe’s Platinum FC last year only for the deal to fall through.

Leopards have a Malawian player Harry Nyirenda.
