Mighty Wanderers and Flames centre-back Foster Namwela has signed for Mozambican top Mocambola League side Ferroviario de Nampula after undergoing successful trials.

Former Flames and Escom United right-back Elvis Kafoteka is also linked with a move to the same club.

Nomads general secretary David Kanyenda confirmed that Namwela is set to start a new lease of life at the Nampula-based side, but he could not be drawn to disclose the terms of the deal.

“I can only confirm that we have cleared Foster to join Ferroviario de Nampula and we wish him well as he begins a new chapter in his career,” said Kanyenda.

Meanwhile, Kafoteka—who was a free agent— is also reported to have left the country on Saturday to relaunch his career at the same club.

“I can confirm that following successful negotiations with the club’s chairman, I will be departing today to sign a contract with Ferroviario de Nampula.”

However, a well-placed source confided in The Nation that the club’s technical panel advised Kafoteka to work on his fitness before he could be offered a deal.

Kafoteka has not played competitive football for over a year now since he terminated his contract with Rwandan club APR.

The duo is set to join other Malawian players currently at Ferroviario de Nampula such as goalkeeper Simplex Nthala [on loan from Maculmana], midfielders Rafiq Mussa and Robson Banda and striker Vincent Chinthenga.
