Nanzikambe Arts will on Saturday (Independence Day) perform their popular play The Messenger at the Nanzikambe Arts Café in Naperi, Blantyre

In an interview Tuesday, Nanzikambe projects officer Misheck Mzumara said the play is back by public demand.

“Our rehearsals for the play have been good and we are set to perform. We have also worked on some areas and we are promising a thrilling and exciting performance on the day,” he said.

The Messenger is based on the story of M’bona, the rainmaker, and features a series of fascinating scenes that create anticipation and dilemma. In an artistic style, the play tasks the brain in many ways.

The play was produced three years ago and Nanzikambe took it to Germany in June 2011.

The Messenger features Mphundu Mjumira who is acting as Mbona and Jesus. 2013 African Movie Academy Award (AMAA) nominee Flora Suya performs two characters—mother of M’bona and Angel Gabriel. Misheck Mzumara is also playing two roles, Lucifer and Mlauli while Maureen Mathala plays Angel and warrior. Jafali Amadu Mussa performs as Angel and military general.
