NBM pledges to continue sponsoring golf tournament

National Bank of Malawi (NBM) has pledged to continue sponsoring golf to ensure that the country produces topclass golfers who can on the at international level.

NBM head of treasury Harry Mkaka said this during the prize presentation ceremony to winners of the bank’s sponsored event at Blantyre Sports Club (BSC) on Saturday evening.

“We as a bank are proud to be associated with this sport. We will continue sponsoring the sport as we have done before,” said Mukaka.

During the event, renowned golfer Medson Kalambule displayed classic golfing skills to defend the title.

He posted 37 points during the event which was patronised by 81 golfers.

“The greens were superb and I hit two birdies on the front and two again on my return,” he said.

Harold Lungu came second after amassing 36 points.

In the women’s category, Margaret Mkwanda outclassed eight women golfers to emerge winner.

Mkwanda with a handicap of 34 pushed Teri Amaro to the second position on 33 and Connie Muguvu third on 31.

Nyakhoko Msona was decorated for his nearest to the pin and Amaro had the longest drive in the women category.

National Bank also donated K350 000 for maintenance of the greens.
