Nchalo-based Ignatius Majamanda is this year’s SDV Invitational Golf champion after his 36-point lead out-paced Rob Renshaw on 35 and James Chimwaza on 34 points respectively.

He proved to be no stranger to the golf course as most of his shots did not miss the target.

Majamanda, who is agriculture manager at Illovo Sugar Company, was awarded a golf sporting kit.

Majamanda said he looks forward to winning more tournaments.

“I did not have any formula, but patience with the golf course could have contributed to my victory. I was on and off due to my busy schedules last year, but I am here to stay now,” said Majamanda.

Felix Mlusu won the best score for seniors whereas Hugo Hinde was crowned best score junior golfer.

The prizes were extended to position seven by SDV to motivate both new and old golfers.

SDV managing director Rhodrick Phiri assured the business captains and golfers of continued sponsorship towards the sport. He said many golfers enjoy playing at Nchalo as it is an excellent atmosphere.

“More surprises will be there next year,” said Phiri.

Nchalo Sports Club captain Chris Mtileni was upbeat about the talent that participated in the event, saying they are geared to having more of such tournaments.

The tournament drew 66 golfers from Nchalo, Blantyre, Limbe and Thyolo sports clubs.
