Nchalo United not only registered their first win in the Premier Division of the Southern Region Football League (SRFL) at the weekend, but also raked in eight goals in two games.

Nchalo, who are back in the second tier league after a year-long absence, started the season unimpressively with a 1-0 loss to Surestream Academy and a barren draw with Bvumbwe Research two weeks ago.

But finally, Saturday the Jones Alex Mwenkenenge-coached side came out of their shells to crush Chanco FC 3-1 through Everson Napolo (formerly of Big Bullets and Azam Tigers), Manja Chidatha and Ashraf Chinkombelo.

There were more goals the following day as Nchalo, formerly Sucoma United, hammered BNC Produsak 5-1 at the same Kalulu Stadium where Napolo, young brother to the team’s legend Jones Napolo, once again inked his name on the score-sheet alongside Joel Paliani, Asha Chinkombelo, Kisa Mwenitete and Mikias Joe.

Despite the impressive wins, Nchalo have seven points from four games well behind leaders Evirom who edged out Machinga ADD 1-0 through Steve Dairi’s effort to go 16 points from six games, trailed by Bvumbwe Research’s 14 points collected in six matches then third-placed Green Hawks also on 14 points.

Evirom co-coach Paul Kachingwe recently said while they have lost all but two players Acid Sumbeja and Denis Chimala, they have beefed up with raw talent “and they are equally good and we are certain of Super League return.”

Full results: Saturday:

Kabula United 1 Cobbe Barracks 6, BNC 1 Nchalo United 4, Max Bullets 3 White Eagles 1, Bvumbwe Research 2 Ndirande Icons 1, Evirom 1 Machinga ADD 0, Green Hawks 2 Azam Tigers Reserves 1, Poly 2 Nyasa United 2, Chanco 0 Prison United 1, Chitakale 0 Luchenza 1.

Sunday:

Max Bullets 0 Cobbe Barracks 0. Chitakale 4 Poly 0, Machinga ADD 1 Mangochi Police 0, Nchalo United 3 Chanco 1.
