The transformation that the song has taken is all too evident as the new version has adopted a fresh danceable feel to it.

The group’s creative director Denis Kalimbe said the production is a result of calls they have been receiving from their fans to release a remix of the song in amapiano version.

“The message in the song has a special meaning which is reflective of the times we are going through. The human race has had to undergo a lot because of the Covid-19 pandemic. But we have survived all that. In this case, Namondwe means this pandemic,” he said.

Kalimbe said by adopting the amapiano beat, the group is trying to move with the time and increase the reach of their music.

He said: “We just wanted to blend it in a way that is danceable, but also moving with the time in a Godly way.”

The production of the song was done by Sky Beats in Lilongwe and Chikondi Chakanika of Legend Wave Studio in Blantyre.

Reacting to the development, music fan Chikondi Chikalipo said though he is yet to sample the song, the choral group is right by adapting to the popular trends.

“If they stick to one style, they may lose the youthful generation. Using the amapiano beat is one clever way of staying relevant and fresh,” he said.
