New church body formed

Retired Anglican bishop Bernard Malango is at the helm of Malawi’s newly formed Institute of Church Management (ICM) which seeks to equip churches with management and administrative skills.

ICM secretary, Dr Winstone Kawale of Nkhoma CCAP Synod, who is working at Mzuzu University, said the vision of the organisation is to assist churches with Christ-centred and inclusive services.

“ICM has been initiated by concerned church members from various denominations. Our mission is to improve management and administrative skills in churches and church-related organisations through training, consultancy and research,” said Kawale.

He said the church in Malawi has provided critical evangelistic and social development services over the years.

But Kawale said most churches face administrative and management challenges, hence the formation of ICM.
