Fun lovers in Malawi’s capital, Lilongwe, should brace for more entertainment this year as the city continues to welcome new entertainment centres.

City Centre, which has had no reliable entertainment venues, now has a new hotspot called Chickitos.

Chickitos is located in Gemini House. It has a big yard that can accommodate about 1 000 people. It is suitable for music shows and dinner and dance parties.

“We have opened Chickitos Entertainment Centre after observing that there was no [entertainment] place at the City Centre. City Centre is always quiet at night and those who have been failing to go for fun because they could not get a quiet and isolated venue for fun, now have a place to go,” says the manager of the centre Kevin Patel.

Patel said the venue has been transformed to good standards that can host any type of entertainment. According to the manager, the venue will be launched this Friday with a dinner and dance party in honour of Miss Malawi Susan Mtegha.

“Organisers of the Miss Malawi were the first to book us for the party and after that we will have other thrilling music shows arranged to mark the opening of the centre,” says Patel.

Apart from a big dancing arena, the venue has a restaurant which is open from morning to around 6pm everyday and a bar which is expected to operate 24 hours.
