Ngalande, CJ’s injuries minor

Spain-based forward Robin Ngalande and man-of-the-moment John ‘CJ’ Banda have played down injuries that led to their substitution in second-half during Saturday’s 2013 Africa Cup of Nations qualifier against Chad.

The duo and coach have described the injuries as minor.

Said Ngalande: “I could not continue because I felt a lot of pain, but I am now alright and I am able to walk properly.”

On his part, Banda said: “A Chad player hit me on the ankle, but it was not that bad.”

Banda, who played as a winger, scored Flames’ first goal that was deflected into the net by a Chadian defender.

In a related matter, coach Kinnah Phiri has said striker Atusaye Nyondo is still struggling with a recurring thigh injury.

“Atusaye tore his thigh muscles and he is struggling to recover. That is why I did not feature him in the game against Chad,” said Kinnah.
