Flames midfielders Robert Ng’ambi and Gerald Phiri Jnr’s South African side Platinum Stars is struggling in the CAF Confederation Cup.

Platinum continued their winless streak following a 3-0 humbling at the hands of Tunisian side CS Sfaxien on Sunday night away in Tunis.

N’gambi played a full game while Phiri did not travel.

Played a full game: Ng’ambi

“I was not registered for the competition because during the registration period, I had not been signed permanently by Platinum rather I was on loan from Bidvest Wits,” said Phiri who is in camp with the Flames.

According to Kickoff.com, Sfaxien were on top from the start, taking an early lead through Kingsley Sokari after Dikwena goalkeeper Steven Hoffman failed to deal with a long-range strike.

“Robert Ng’ambi had a chance to draw level minutes later, yet his shot from distance was palmed away by gloveman Rami Jeridi,” reads part of the report.

The Tunisian side scored the second through a penalty awarded after Siyabonga Zulu fouled Meher Hanachi in the box and up stepped Karim Aouadhi to convert the spot kick.

Finding it difficult to create any chances against the well-drilled Tunisians, Dikwena conceded another goal just seven minutes into the second stanza as Hanachi headed home following poor defending by Zulu.

Platinum sit bottom of Group B, with just one point from their opening three group stage games.n
