NGO bemoans lack of SRH info among youths

Foundation for Community and Capacity Development (Foccad) has said lack of information on sexual and reproductive health (SRH) and HIV and Aids makes youths vulnerable to unwanted pregnancies and sexually transmitted diseases.

Foccad youth officer Moses Kaluvi said this during a two-day training of youth communicators in Nkhotakota District to empower them with knowledge on SRH.

Kuluvi makes a point during the training

“We organised the training to share with them knowledge on SRH so that they should be informed because we believe that most of our youths in the district lack this information,” he said.

Kaluvi hoped the training will help the youth not to indulge in behaviour that would put their lives at risk.

In an interview, one of the participants Francis Khumulani, who is also Mtosa Youth Club Chairperson from Mtosa Village in Traditional Authority Mwadzama in the district commended the organisation for engaging the youth communicators, saying SRH information will play a great role in the lives of the youth.

He said he will share the information with other youths in his area for them to make informed decisions.

Foccad conducts talk shows, debates and other activities across the district to educate the youth on SRH issues.
