Future4All, a non-governmental organisation (NGO) working in Ntcheu, on Monday handed over semi-detached teachers’ houses worth K11 million to Dzoole Primary School in Traditional Authority Kwataine in the district.

The NGO also donated K411 000 to Dzoole Community Based Childcare Centre for repairing of part of the school’s roof that was blown off by wind earlier this year.

Speaking during the handover, Future4all programmes director Lemani Ngaiyaye said the NGO partnered with Dzoole communities to construct the houses to alleviate challenges teachers experience at the school.

“Accommodation has been a challenge to teachers. As a result, they prefer to rent houses at Ntcheu Boma and commute to the school, thereby reporting late for classes,” he said.

Ntcheu district education manager Lucia Chidalengwa commended Future4All for the gesture, saying the education’s sector needs such kind of assistance to deliver.

“Shortage of teachers’ houses is a challenge in many schools and that is why we are calling for more well-wishers to assist.

“I also thank the community for providing bricks and sand for the project. This is what we call team-work, because government alone cannot manage everything,” she said.

Future4All supported the projects with funds from Wilde Ganzen Foundation and Help Malawi of The Netherlands.
