Ellie Baxter Foundation director and founder Ellie Baxter Mphwanthe said 2015 has been a challenging year economically and most people have found life unbearable.

She said patients in hospitals have not been spared the hardship that is why she thought of making the donation.

“Our goal is to support women and children. We believe in giving hope to others,” said Mphwanthe

Survivor Organisation founder Judith Chibambo said they undertook the gesture to motivate patients.

“Being on a hospital bed does not mean you are separated from others or it’s the end of life. We wanted them to understand that there are people who want to see them out of the hospital,” she said.

MCH principal nursing officer Daisy Simeza commended the organisations for remembering patients. n
