Nice for mindset change in Covid fight

National Initiative for Civic Education (Nice) Trust says mindset change can help people in Mulanje fight Covid-19.

Mulanje Nice district civic education officer Saiti Chikwapulo said this on Wednesday during the training of area civic education coordinators on Covid-19 prevention.

He said: “There is need for mindset change among community members if we are to prevent the spread of the pandemic.

“We have noted sadly that some people are against wearing masks because they say they find it difficult to breathe or that people might think they have tested positive for the virus.”

Chikwapula said they trained the civic education coordinators so that they should sensitise people in their respective areas on how to protect themselves from the virus.

One of the participants, McElliot Kaleso, said the training was an eye-opener.

He said: “People know about Covid-19, but some lack knowledge on how it is spread and how it can be prevented.

“We have also learnt the proper way of wearing masks, which is a problem for many people.”
