This year’s Northern Region FMB Under-20 Football Tournament final will be played at Mkondezi in Nkhata Bay on November 5, it has been announced.

Nkhata Bay champions Young Heroes will face Karonga champions Malema FC in the final.

The winner will join Fish Eagles of Mzuzu, who have been seeded from the regional play-offs by virtue of hosting the national finals this year, according to Northern Region Youth Football Association general secretary Bellings Kibombwe.

“Being the host region, we will be represented by two teams. Fish Eagles, who are Mzuzu City champions, have been ceded because they are national finals hosts.

“Such being the situation, the winner between Malema and Young Heroes will join Fish Eagles alongside the other two teams from South and Central regions who emerged champions,” he said.

Young Heroes are new entrants in the league while Malema lost in the regional finals to Fish Eagles last year.

Meanwhile, Malema coach Chiukepo Mvula has declared war on Young Heroes.

“Out target is to scoop this year’s national championship. Facing Young Heroes in the regional finals will be a walkover,” he said.

But Young Heroes coach Phulu Kamanga said they are equally prepared to defeat Malema.

“We will not accept to be defeated at our backyard. We are prepared for them,” he said. n
