Some members of Timaitha Youth Club in Nkhata Bay on Saturday donated assorted items worth over K100 000 ($139) to Nkhata Bay District Hospital.

The group’s secretary Wiseman Mwale said they visited the patients after noting the challenges they face in sourcing basic needs while in hospital.

“We also encouraged them not to feel forgotten; God is still on their side no matter what they may be going through,” he added.

The youth also cheered patients with a short performance before making the donation which they said came from their personal contributions.

Appreciating the donation, the district’s youth and reproductive health officer Reuben Moyo thanked the youths for their intervention.

“We are grateful for your donation. Soap is a useful item for patients in hospital, and hence we do not take your donation for granted,” said Moyo.

The youth travelled a distance of about 90 kilometres to fulfill their dream by donating soap, baby oil, baby powder and other assorted items.
