Nkhoma targets TKO against Mtimaukanena

Happiness Nkhoma has said she is set to stop Agnes Mtimaukanena with a technical knockout (TKO) in their long-awaited fight on February 24.

The top-billing bout will be staged at Area 30 Nankhaka ground in Malawi’s capital, Lilongwe, courtesy of Tamasoti Boxing Promotion owned by entrepreneur Taonga Tembo.

Nkhoma said on Saturday she does not believe in winning on points.

“Winning on points gives a lot of room of being robbed. The judges can be influenced, so, to avoid that, I am targeting to end the bout prematurely with a TKO, “

“I cannot say which round I will knock her down, because it gives unnecessary pressure. If she will withstand the punches, then I will try to score more points so that there should be no room for doctoring results,” she said.

Nkhoma outsmarted Tanzanian Jamuhuli Saidi in her international debut on unanimous points.

Mtimaukanena, who has a record of three wins, one loss and a draw, recently got engaged to Zimbabwean pugilist Brian Mwando.

The holder of the World Boxing Forum (WBF) lightweight title could not be reached for comment.
