Two goals from Bondera Nyirongo and Wiseman Msiska’s strike helped Nkhorongo FC beat Nkhwazi FC 3-0 to reach the finals of the Mzuzu City Presidential Cup.

The game was played before a sizeable crowd at Chibavi ground on Sunday.

Nkhwazi chased shadows throughout the game. Through their wingers Sydney Mikana and Wisdom Matuya, they tried to pull back one, but Nkhorongo’s defence was solid.

After the game, Nkhwazi caretaker coach Orton Nyirenda hailed referee Kayipa Banda for his professionalism. He blamed the loss on poor fielding.

“I think the referee was just very good but we were to blame for poor fielding of the players that cost us the game,” said Nyirenda.

Nkhorongo will now meet defending champions Chipilingu in the finals on March 31 at a venue yet to be announced. Chipilingu beat Super Dynamos 3-1 in the other semi-final played on Saturday.
