Nkhulande basketball team is close to lifting this year’s Northern Region Basketball League (Nozobal) after winning six out of the seven games in the competition.

Nkhulande captain Chimwemwe Chirwa said they will train hard so that they qualify for the national league.

“We will continue to work hard so that we fulfil our dreams of qualifying for the national league,” he said.

Nkhulande have 13 points while second-placed Moyale have 12.

Five teams are participating in this year’s league.

Meanwhile, Pistons, who started the league on a good note, having won two of their opening games, are third with 11 points.

Mzuni anchor the table with two points out of four games.

According to Nozobal general secretary James Suluma, the league ends in October.

“The league is moving on well. We expect to finish by the end of October because there are few games remaining,” said Suluma.

The league, which is in the second phase, awaits final play offs next week at Katoto Secondary School. n
