The 2021 Sand Music Festival will be held at Sunbird Nkopola in Mangochi, organiser Impakt Events Management has announced.
Briefing the press in Blantyre on Thursday, Impakt Events team leader Nkhwachi Mhango said the change follows construction works taking place at the Sunbird Livingstonia in Salima where the event has been held mostly.

“There is a Waterfront Hotel project which has taken much of the space that was used for the festival. In that regard we thought it prudent to find a proper venue to host the festival this year,” he said.

Apart from changing the venue, the organisers also announced the change of dates for the event. This year it will be held from October 1 to 3 unlike in the previous years where it was held at the end of the month of October.

Mhango said: “Over the years the festival has faced challenges with adverse weather conditions. It was only proper that we take affirmative action in dealing with problems that have affected the festival.”
The Impakt Events team said they will soon announce the lineup of performers since they are still in negotiations with potential performers at the moment, both international and local.
