Ntcheu District Council chairperson Henry Jimu has warned that the council might not hold its full meeting next month if service committees do not come up with the agenda.

Jimu made the warning on Monday during an extra-ordinary full council meeting organised by Ntcheu District Water Sector to update council members on progress of the Sustainable Rural Water Infrastructure and Hygiene for Livelihood (SRWIHL) Project which is funded by the African Development Bank (AfDB).

“We are supposed to hold a full council meeting next month, but we may not have it if we do not have the agenda,” said Jimu.

He said the agenda for full council meeting is generated from service committee meetings.

“I, therefore, appeal to chairpersons of various service committees to make sure that you meet, but the district commissioner will only approve your request if the agenda for your meetings is valid,” said Jimu.

Reacting to the sentiments, Ntcheu North East member of Parliament, Everson Chimulirenji said there are a lot of issues affecting communities and it was necessary that the full council meeting should be held.

“I request chairpersons and secretaries of service committees to arrange for their meetings so that we should have a full council meeting,” said Chimulirenji. n
