Sports Council executive secretary George Jana was responding to a question on progress on the matter.

“The last time they [NAM] engaged us on the matter [around mid last year], we advised them to come up with a strategic plan clearly outlining the coach’s duties and thereafter, the post would be advertised, but there has been no feedback from them.

“The issue is that we need to know what other duties the coach will be performing in the absence of the Queens’ engagements.

“We even made a suggestion to them whether the priority would be to engage someone to market the association or hire a permanent coach,” said Jana.

He said they will wait to be advised by NAM on the way forward.

NAM general secretary Carol Bapu yesterday refused to comment on the matter, saying they will do so at an appropriate time.

Currently, the Queens have no coach as the immediate past coach Peace Chawinga-Kalua and her former assistant  Mary Waya were only hired on temporary basis for Diamonds Netball Challenge and the Netball World Cup (NWC) held last year.
