The gifts included packets of sugar, Orange Squash, washing and bathing soap and cash, among others.

Speaking when he donated the items, chairperson of the group, Joseph Msinde Bolamoyo, said they felt duty-bound to assist the patients to celebrate the team’s renewed Carlsberg Malawi K15 million (about $38 000) sponsorship.

Vincent Msango, who spoke on behalf of fellow patients, thanked the Nomads fans for the gesture. He appealed to them to extend the same spirit to other people in need.

St John’s Hospital administrator Charity Chinkono, expressed gratitude at the ‘Nyerere fans’, saying the donation will help the patient’s healing process.

“Some people lack even a piece of soap. The situation compromises their healing process. So, as a hospital, we are grateful for what Mighty Wanderers fans have done,” said Chinkono.
