The announcement was made at a stakeholders meeting on Friday at their club house in Blantyre.

The meeting, attended by executive committee members, trustees and supporters, also addressed the issue of elections.

Wanderers Electoral College general secretary Henry Chibowa said they would issue a press release on the elections procedure.

“As of now I can confirm that the elections for the supporters committee will be held on January 31 while the main committee elections will be held seven days later,” Chibowa said.

“We will issue a press release to explain the nominations and procedure for the electoral process.”

Sources indicate that the sponsors Be Forward have also requested that chairperson George Chamangwana and general secretary Mike Butao should stay put.

While acknowledging the sponsors upshot, Butao said he was not interested.

Meanwhile, Super League of Malawi (Sulom), who last year mediated for a cease fire after supporters ousted Chamangwana’s executive, hailed the Lali Lubani side for coming up with the the elections date.

“When the time comes, Sulom will come and observe the elections so that they are held in a free and fair manner,” Sulom general secretary Williams Banda said in an interview yesterday. n
