Be Forward Wanderers executive committee has rejected a demand by a section of the team’s supporters to fire the Bob Mpinganjira-led coaching panel.

Following the Nomads’ 0-1 loss to Silver Strikers in an Airtel Top 8 quarter-final first leg at Kamuzu Stadium in Blantyre last Saturday, some of the team’s followers, led by main supporters committee chairperson Melvin Nkunika, demanded the immediate firing of the coaches, citing poor performance.

But the club’s chairperson Gift Mkandawire yesterday said the executive committee has resolved that in the meantime, the coach will stay put.

“We resolved that we cannot fire the coach now because even if we did, who will replace him?

“There are a few good coaches in Malawi and we cannot just rush to fire coaches before we find suitable replacements.

“The supporters should also suggest solutions other than issuing demands,” he said.

However, the Nomads chairperson insisted that the plan to beef up the technical panel is still on.

In demanding the coaches’ removal, Nkunika last Saturday said: “We have been asked by the supporters to demand the immediate removal of the coaches.

“These coaches are failing their job. Zawakanika, achoke [they have failed and they must go]! n
