Mighty Wanderers have said they would like to make advances on Big Bullets red-hot forward Gabadinho Mhango after being mesmerised into submission by his magical skills,.

Gabadinho turned on the magic and left the Nomads bewildered with a double that inspired the People’s Team to a 3-0 victory in a TNM Super League second-round showdown on Sunday.

Nomads general secretary, David Kanyenda, on Tuesday said they are serious about approaching Bullets over Gabadinho.

“We will approach them at the end of the season and see if they can either sell or loan him to us. I have already found a place for him at Kalibu Academy, which is a good school and we are serious about it.

“We believe Gabadinho can combine well with fellow youngsters such as Gerald Phiri Jnr, Mike Kaziputa and Victor Mpinganjira,” said Kanyenda.

He said it would not be the first time for a big-name player to cross the floor from a rival camp, citing Yasin Osman, Peterkins Kayira, McDonald Yobe, Andrew ‘Aluki’ Chikhosi, the late John ‘CJ’ Banda and Muzipasi Mwangonde as examples.

Kanyenda swallowed his pride and acknowledged that Gabadinho is in a class of his own.

“I knew he is so lethal and that was why we tried to wind him down prior to the derby with some mind games. Unfortunately, it did not work out for us,” he said.

‘It’s a New Year joke’

However, Bullets general secretary Higger Mkandawire on Tuesday laughed-off Nomads’ statement, describing it as a “New Year joke”.

“They [Wanderers] cannot be serious. Maybe they are confused with the goals. Gabadinho is not for sale and I do not think they can afford him. All we want is that he should complete his secondary education and explore the possibilities of selling him abroad,” said Mkandawire.

Gabadinho could not be reached for comment on Nomads’ interest in him.
