Mighty Wanderers FC on  Saturday went top of TNM Super League after coming from behind to thrash Mzuzu United 3-1 at Mzuzu Stadium.

The Nomads were trailing 0-1 12 minutes into the first-half after a beautiful strike from Lucky Mauluka Nyoni put the hosts in front.

But Alfred Manyozo Junior brought Wanderers back into the game after scoring the equaliser in the 20th minute to make it one-one.

The Nomads started the second-half at full throttle, forcing the hosts into rearguard action.

The blue side of town went into delirium when Kondwani ‘Scholes’ Kumwenda scored the second goal before Timothy Chitedze closed the score sheet.

Mzuzu United missed some clear chances through Khumbo Ng’ambi, Madalitso Chiumia and Lazarous Nyemera.

The win takes the Nomads to the top of the league on 27 points from 13 matches while Mzuzu United are on eight points from 13 games.

Red Lions are second on 24 points also from 13 games. Mzuzu United have a game against Red Lions to finish the first round.

Mzuzu’s coach James Phiri accepted defeat, saying his charges lost the plot in the second-half.

“We were very disorganised in the second-half,” said Phiri.

Wanderers coach Stewart Mbolembole thanked his charges for the gallant fight they put up.

“I am grateful for the win. We look forward to another win against Moyale in our last game on Sunday [today],” he said.

At Civo Stadium in Lilongwe, Civo United beat struggling Evirom by the same margin.
