Mighty Wanderers general secretary Mike Butao has appealed to the team’s supporters, popularly known as ‘Nyerere’, to emulate their Big Bullets counterparts by supporting the club’s income-generating activities.
Butao said one of the contributing factors to the team’s poor performance this season is the supporters’ lukewarm response to income-generating activities.
“Our supporters need to swallow their pride and learn from their Bullets counterpart who support their team’s initiatives such as TNM’s Sapota Mapeto Promotion, which in turn, has helped them generate substantial funding and part of which was used to buy quality players and they are now reaping the rewards,” said Butao.
He said other than criticising the team’s management, the Wanderers faithful need to dig deeper in their hearts and ask themselves if they are doing enough to help the team.
“At the moment, the team is running on contributions from executive committee members as well as some trustees.
The Nomads are experiencing one of their worst seasons ever and have already suffered 11 league defeats with only three games to wind up the season. They are on position 10 with 28 points.
