Nomads refuse to give up on title

Mighty Wanderers have said although their hopes to win the TNM Super League title appear to be a tall order, they should not be counted out of the race.

Soccer pundits have said realistically the chase for the title has narrowed to the top three teams, Silver Strikers, Blantyre United and Big Bullets although Red Lions and the Nomads still have a mathematical chance.

The Nomads are currently on fifth position with 39 points from 24 games. They are nine points short of current leaders Silver who have played 23 games. Blantyre United are second, also with 48 points from 25 games whereas Bullets are third with 46 points from 24 games.

However, Wanderers general secretary David Kanyenda still believes they can pull a surprise.

“Miracles do happen in football and who knows, if they lose the rest of their games and we win all our games, we can win the title,” said Kanyenda.

The club’s former defender Ojukwu ‘Abusa’ Malunga said while there is need to “dream in colour, the chase for the title is beyond possibility for the Nomads.”
