Nomads TD, assistant coach’s future uncertain

Contracts for Be Forward Wanderers technical panel have expired and the executive committee says only head coach Bob Mpinganjira and team manager Stevie Madeira are guaranteed extensions.

The Nomads technical panel comprises technical director (TD) Yasin Osman, Mpinganjira, Madeira and his assistant Allan Kamanga, who also doubles as assistant coach.

Osman: Let’s wait and see

However, club chairperson Gift Mkandawire on Friday said only Mpinganjira and Madeira are assured of contract extensions with the Lali Lubani Road side.

He said: “The contracts are subject to review, but for the coach and team manager, I can attest that they will stay put.

“However, for the other posts, they are subject to review and we could ring some changes.”

Mkandawire said the executive will meet before the end of the month to map the way forward.

“Our wish is that we should have a complete set-up by the time the international bonanza starts,” he said.

Osman said he will only comment at an appropriate time.

“Let us see what will come first before I can comment,” he said.

On his part Madeira said he is humbled with the confidence and trust the team’s leadership has in him.

“Of course, I have not been told anything, but it is humbling for a team of Wanderers’ calibre to display such confidence in me, it shows that they value my contribution.

“I am young and still learning the ropes and it gives me extra motivation,” he said.

Last season, the Nomads were dethroned as TNM Super League champions by their age-old rivals Nyasa Big Bullets and could only find solace in the runners-up slot.

But they won the Fisd Challenge Cup, were losing finalists in the Carlsberg Cup and were booted out in the semi-finals of the Airtel Top 8.
